Overview
A condensed award covering the emergency response every workplace needs someone to be able to give, delivered and assessed in a single day.
Hours count towards the Level 3 First Aid at Work award for learners who upgrade later.
What you study
4 units · 24 notional hours. Hours shown are the notional allocation used for planning and progression.
Assessing danger, infection control, consent and calling for help.
Unresponsive casualty, CPR, recovery position and choking.
Wound care, severe bleeding, burns and recognising shock.
Assessed practical scenarios and oral questioning.
How you are assessed
Practical competence is assessed in person by a qualified assessor against written criteria. No practical competence is assessed online.

Entry requirements
- 16 years or older at the start of the course
- No prior qualification required
- Physical capability for floor-level CPR practice
Certification
Learners receive the ASIEA award and the evidence behind it. External certification is being sought: the units, notional hours and assessment on this page are written so a certification body can map them to its own qualifications.
