Overview
A driving licence proves you can operate a vehicle. It does not prove you can carry paying passengers or a client's goods safely, on time, with the paperwork intact.
This certificate covers defensive driving, daily vehicle checks, load and passenger responsibilities, and the conduct expected of someone representing an employer on the road.
What you study
6 units · 200 notional hours. Hours shown are the notional allocation used for planning and progression.
Duty of care, conduct, appearance, customer contact and representing an employer.
Daily walk-around checks, tyres, fluids, lights, brakes and reporting defects properly.
Observation, anticipation, following distance, hazard response and adverse conditions.
Passenger safety and assistance, load security, weight limits and securing methods.
Route planning, hours and rest, fuel and mileage records and delivery documentation.
At-scene procedure, reporting, first response and protecting the scene.
How you are assessed
Practical competence is assessed in person by a qualified assessor against written criteria. No practical competence is assessed online.

Entry requirements
- 21 years or older at the start of the programme
- A valid driving licence held for at least two years
- Medical fitness and eyesight appropriate to professional driving
- Basic written English for journey and defect records
Certification
Learners receive the ASIEA award and the evidence behind it. External certification is being sought: the units, notional hours and assessment on this page are written so a certification body can map them to its own qualifications.
