Overview

A guide is simultaneously a storyteller, a logistics manager and the person responsible for a group's safety in an unfamiliar environment. All three are assessed here.

The programme combines destination and wildlife interpretation with itinerary control, risk assessment and incident handling, assessed on a live guided assignment.

Entry requirements

  • 18 years or older at the start of the programme
  • Senior Four (UCE) or equivalent
  • Confident spoken English; a second language is an advantage
  • Physical capability for field assignments
  • Availability for residential field blocks
