Overview
Linen is one of the largest replaceable assets a property owns, and it is destroyed faster by bad laundry practice than by guests. This course trains the handling that protects it.
It covers industrial equipment, wash chemistry, stain treatment and the stock control that keeps par levels honest.
What you study
5 units · 150 notional hours. Hours shown are the notional allocation used for planning and progression.
Fibre types, care labels, sorting by soil and colour, and infected-linen procedure.
Detergents, temperatures, cycle selection, dosing systems and machine care.
Identifying stain groups, pre-treatment, rewash decisions and knowing when to condemn.
Drying, ironing, calendering, folding standards and storage.
Par levels, rotation, loss tracking, condemnation records and reordering.
How you are assessed
Practical competence is assessed in person by a qualified assessor against written criteria. No practical competence is assessed online.

Entry requirements
- 17 years or older at the start of the course
- No prior qualification required
- Basic spoken English
- Physical capability for laundry work
Certification
Learners receive the ASIEA award and the evidence behind it. External certification is being sought: the units, notional hours and assessment on this page are written so a certification body can map them to its own qualifications.
