Overview
Most skills transfer happens beside the work, not in a classroom. This award trains supervisors and senior practitioners to do that deliberately rather than by accident.
It suits anyone who inducts, buddies or develops colleagues, and complements the Award in Education & Training for those moving into formal delivery.
What you study
4 units · 110 notional hours. Hours shown are the notional allocation used for planning and progression.
What each is for, boundaries, confidentiality and contracting with the learner.
Structured models, questioning, listening, silence and moving from talk to action.
Setting workable goals, giving hard feedback well and tracking progress.
Induction, buddying, cultural onboarding and knowing when to escalate.
How you are assessed
Practical competence is assessed in person by a qualified assessor against written criteria. No practical competence is assessed online.
Two real coaching conversations recorded and assessed
Goals, notes and progress records for a real coachee
Written reflection on practice and its effect
Entry requirements
- 20 years or older at the start of the course
- Current responsibility for developing at least one colleague
- Confident spoken English
Certification
Learners receive the ASIEA award and the evidence behind it. External certification is being sought: the units, notional hours and assessment on this page are written so a certification body can map them to its own qualifications.
